EFFECTS OF EM (EFFECTIVE MICROORGANISMS)® AS BIOSTIMULANT IN BEAN PLANTS
EM® is a biofertilizer consisting of a mixture of different microorganisms: photosynthesizing bacteria, lactic bacteria, actinomycetes, yeasts and filamentous fungi. The soil treatment based on this formulation has increased the photosynthetic efficiency and the main yield parameters of the plants, independently of the two different substrates used in the experimentation: conventional soil and sandy soil. However, the differences observed in the qualitative parameters analyzed, i.e. lipid, protein and starch contents of the seeds were not markedly different. Although the study was conducted under controlled conditions (in greenhouses), the EM formulation deserves interest as a promising biostimulant, especially in conditions of nutrient-poor soils.
