IN THE FIRST LINE FOR THE SAFETY OF AGRICULTURAL WORKERS
The agricultural sector has always contended with the building sector the mounrful record of fatal accidents at work. In particular, the overturning of the tractor causes as an average in Italy more than 130 victims per year; is a figure higher than the fatal accidents occurring on the entire motorway network! This situation strongly underlines the need to play out effective measures to reduce the problem extent.
At DISAA has been operating for more than 40 years a laboratory, officially accredited by the OECD as a Testing Station, to homologate the ROPS (Roll Over Protective Structures) mounted on agricultural and forestry tractors, according to globally recognized Standards.
Not only tractors, but also self-propelled agricultural machines, industrial vehicles are involved in ROPS fitting and, more generally, where passive protection of the operator (and other possible occupants of the driver’s place) is needed in case of loss of stability of the vehicle and consequent overturning.
In the Laboratory are carried out also tests according to the most recognized and accepted International safety Standards on work vehicles, including FOPS (Falling Object Protective Structures), seat belt attachments, static and dynamic stability checks.
