RESISTANCE TO FUNGICIDES IN VINEYARD: DISAA AND SYNGENTA SET UP NEW STRATEGIES FOR THE DOWNY MILDEW MANAGEMENT

The management of fungicide resistance is of primary importance for a successful control of grapevine downy mildew. The Department of Agricultural Environmental Sciences cooperates with Syngenta since a long time to monitor resistance to fungicides. In November 2019, this cooperation was once again renovated and reinforced with new objectives. Aim of the project is to improve the efficacy of anti-resistance strategies by monitoring fungicide resistance in Italian vineyards and setting up new and innovative protocols for the detection and quantification of resistant strains in the pathogen population. In this regard, sensitivity to the CAA (Carboxylic Acid Amides) fungicide mandipropamid will be investigated.
