GREENWAYS HERITAGE: A PROJECT TO PROMOTE GREENWAYS AND UNESCO SITES IN EUROPE

The “GREENWAYS HERITAGE” project, co-financed by the European Union under the COSME programme, in which the Department of Agricultural and Environmental Sciences participated as a partner, ended.

The project was coordinated by the European Greenways Association (EGWA) and involved 8 partners from 5 European countries (Belgium, Italy, Latvia, Portugal and Spain).

The general objective of the project was the development and diversification of the European tourism offer by generating new tourism products related to heritage greenways and UNESCO cultural heritage sites located nearby.

In detail the task of the Department was the promotion of the greenways and UNESCO sites fruition through the creation of a multiplatform web-application, containing all the information on “Greenways Heritage” itineraries.

To this end, two distinct applications were developed, which can be used by both PCs and mobile phones:

·         The first application allows users to consult all the information collected on greenways, UNESCO sites, territorial resources and tourist services, through an interactive map.

·         The second application shows the territories characterized by the presence of greenways and UNESCO sites through a photographic Virtual Tour.

The project website, available at the following link, allows consulting both applications:
