Agriculture activity contributes to air pollution because of ammonia emission due above all to livestock and manure management. Unfortunately, no full scale data exist regarding ammonia emission.
Recently a scientific paper published on Waste Management (103 (2020) 296–304) investigated ammonia and odors emission from manure storage tank for two years. Results obtained indicated that ammonia emission was large and in the range of 3 – 21 tNH3/y. These data suggest to adopt correct politics reducing ammonia emission and preventing air pollution.
Figure: Ammonia (AER) and odours (SOER) emitted from the storage tanks monitored during the work for animal slurry (Lagoon1 and Tank 2), and separate liquid digestates (Tank 3 and Tank 4).
