A FARMER TELLS US ABOUT HIS EXPERIENCES IN ADOPTING CONSERVATIVE AGRICULTURE PRACTICES AND OTHER INNOVATIVE AGRO-TECNIQUES

Microsoft Teams virtual classroom

Friday June 5, 2020, 14:00 – 14:45

Dott. Giuseppe Elias

Az. Agricola Gestione Aziende Bianchini S.S.

Since 1988 Giuseppe Elias has been managing some cereal-zootechnical farms that cover about 600 hectares in the provinces of Lodi and Milan. Since the beginning of his activity, he has been introducing technological and management innovations capable of improving both the profitability of crops and their quality level. In Italy, he has been a pioneer in adopting conservative farming practices. He imported, and used, the first minimum tillage harrows and hard seeders from Argentina. After he had introduced

tractors equipped with satellite guidance systems in his farms, in 2015, he has been adopting strip-till cultivation associated with sub-irrigation. In recent years he has been exploiting multispectral maps of fields provided by Sentinel-II satellites in farms management.

In the seminar, dr. Elias will talk about his agronomic experiences by focusing on the dynamic analysis of weaknesses of crop and farm systems managed by him and on searching of sustainable and effective solutions.
